FULL TIME 3 YEAR STUDIES
Programme Aims:
Students on the programme will:
– Be exposed to and develop a broad range of managerial skills
– Develop the ability to communicate clearly and effectively by production of reports
– Develop a questioning and critical attitude
– Use both analytical & experimental methods for the solution of Maritime
– Operations problems
– Develop the ability of self-learning.
Programme Objectives:
The programme aims to enable the students to:
– Function in a managerial role in the operation of ports, shipping companies and offshore units
– Develop an advanced understanding of the legal framework within which undertakings of a maritime character operations & Logistics
– Analyse the significant influences (operational, technological and economic) on the effective operation of ports, ships and offshore units
– Understand and implement the requirements of formal safety assessment and review
– Study the role played by marine information processing systems in the efficient operation of an enterprise
– Develop a strategy to choose appropriate technologies for competitive advantage
– Develop a sound understanding of the law and associated operational procedures as related to operational safety and the protection of the marine environment
– Effectively and efficiently plan and manage a research project
– Be conversant with legal principles, law and conventions that apply to dry and wet shipping law
